Sculpting Clothes

I've been sculpting the clothes the past few days. Trying to get everything up to the same level of detail. Working on folds for the arms to get as close to the material I'm referencing as possible. I've found a great video from an artist that worked on The Last of Us on how to sculpt wrinkles and folds that I found really helpful. Check it out!

Look Dev

I'm going to start posting my WIP more as I find it to be the most interesting aspect of any artistic blog. I've chosen to do a concept by Mike Wrobel. An incredibly talented artist who has done a series of 80's and 90's themed pieces for Game of Thrones. I've chosen to recreate Theon Greyjoy as a 3D piece for my Look Dev class at Gnomon.

Base Mesh
Base created in Maya 2015

I established a base mesh for my sculpt using a front and side ortho of Theon's head in order to save time when it came down to sculpting. Getting as close to a likeness as possible before jumping into ZBrush.

 Reference
Of course when working on likeness, gathering as much reference as possible always helps! I tried to collect as many references with different angles of Theon's face as I could.

The first challange I've come across is getting likeness for Alfie Allen. Still working on getting the overall anatomy down for Theon before adding any micro detail. I found working too long on a piece in one sitting can end up hurting a design. Giving yourself a fresh eye on something you've worked on for so long helps immensely!

Gnomon EDDP Term 9

I'm currently in week 2 of Term 9 (out of 12) at Gnomon School of Visual Effects. It has been an incredible journey since day 1. I can't believe how fast time has flown by with only 1 more year left of school. I've met some incredible artists, teachers, and friends along the way and can't wait to finish up my Gnomon experience!
